From Sunday, February 16 through Sunday, March 30, we will be accepting nominations for the offices of elder and deacon. Your nomination is critical since all officers must be chosen by the people they lead. Nominations can be submitted through the Church Center app.

Church officers must be mature Christian men (1 Timothy 3:1-13, 1 Timothy 2:12). They must be gifted by Christ to serve as church officers (Ephesians 4:7-12), recognized (or nominated) by the congregation as being both mature and gifted (Acts 6:1-6), formally elected by congregational vote (Acts 14:23) and then approved and ordained by the elders of the church (Acts 6:6).

Res Pres needs men who God has equipped to shepherd and serve his church. Remember that elders are primarily called to provide pastoral care and spiritual leadership for our church, while deacons are primarily to lead us in ministries of mercy and service. The gifts required for these two offices are different, though many of the qualifications are the same (again, see 1 Timothy 3:1-13).

The current elders of the church will meet with each nominee to discuss the work of being an elder or deacon. Following a period of training, those who are both qualified and available to serve will be presented to the congregation for election.
